Amos is given the chance to buy his freedom. He goes on to start his own business as a tanner. The book was written in 1951 and the speech reflects the vocabulary and views of that time, sometimes coming off as insensitive and racist to today's audience.

use to introduce and teach about sibling rivalry and

the feelings that come when a new baby arrives.
